Job summary

Itron is seeking a highly motivated Associate R&D Technician to support the Distributed Intelligence Laboratory (DI-Lab). You will work hands-on with electrical distribution models, metering equipment, power electronics, and data acquisition systems in a lab setting.

The role involves wiring, testing, and maintaining complex lab infrastructure, while adhering to strict electrical safety practices and supporting engineers in developing next-generation utility and distributed intelligence

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Electrical Technology or related field.
• 2+ years hands-on electrical/electronics lab or technician experience.
• Experience with AC mains power systems and electrical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using electrical test equipment (DMMs, scopes, analyzers).
• Strong troubleshooting and safety skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate the Distributed Intelligence Laboratory and workshop facilities.
• Assemble, install, and troubleshoot lab infrastructure, panels, transformers, metering equipment, and power systems.
• Wire, route cables, terminate, and construct panels per codes and standards.
• Assist with lab expansions, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and safety checks.
• Support engineers with experimental setup, data collection, and demonstrations.
