Job summary

KPMG LLP is seeking a Tax Senior Associate to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services practice in San Diego. You will lead R&D tax credit engagements, interview clients, and perform tax research to build industry expertise.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with client personnel across operations, finance, and engineering. Travel to client sites is expected as needed, with opportunities to draft opinions and IRS submissions.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of tax experience in a public accounting firm or corporate taxation experience.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Access along with experience performing internet research.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel and work at client locations.
• Technical skills and experience with research and development deduction and credit Internal Revenue Code sections (174 & 41) and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead client interviews and discussions for R&D tax credit consulting services.
• Perform tax technical research and develop business and industry expertise.
• Assist in managing and implementing multiple projects, coordinating client resources.
• Draft opinion letters, respond to IRS inquiries, IRS ruling requests and tax memoranda.
