Job summary

Grant Thornton is seeking a Tax Manager in the Methods, Credits & Incentives (MCI) – Research & Development Tax Credit practice. You will navigate R&D tax credit complexity and provide practical tax advice, supervising projects and supporting leadership to ensure timely, within-budget delivery.

Your day-to-day includes client facility visits, cost lead and cost summary schedule preparation, and assisting with business development activities, travel to client sites, and ongoing client service

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field.
• Masters or Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Mathematics, Business, Finance, or related fields preferred.
• Six to ten years of experience in R&D tax credits; open to Fixed Asset or Tax Accounting Method experience.
• Minimum of four years of accounting or tax experience in public accounting or consulting.
• CPA or JD/active attorney's license required.
• Prior project management experience required.
• Strong understanding of federal and some state R&D rules and relevant court cases.
• Intermediate understanding of tax return mechanics.
• Experience with amending tax returns.

Responsibilities

• Assist with visiting client locations, analyzing facts, and preparing cost schedules and tax computations.
• Manage multiple project tasks and deliverables; supervise R&D projects.
• Support business development activities, including proposals and pursuits.
• Other duties as assigned.
