Job summary

Inolex's Philadelphia R&D Center is seeking an R&D Engineer II to join the Synthesis & Compounding team. You will execute lab-scale synthesis of new molecules, develop and optimize lab-scale processes with Operations, and drive sustainable process concepts with TEA and LCA support.

You will collaborate across Analytical, Applications, and Supply Chain groups to transfer processes from lab to pilot scale and support troubleshooting for commercial scale products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science & Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of work experience or MS with at least 2 years experience.
• Chemical synthesis experience in a commercial manufacturing environment preferred.
• Chemical process development and scale-up experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Inolex colleagues to identify target molecules and synthetic routes.
• Conduct lab-scale synthesis and process development experiments.
• Drive process innovation projects evaluating novel feedstocks and chemistries; support TEA and LCA analyses.
• Lab-scale synthesis of new product samples for evaluation by Analytical, QC, and Applications labs.
• Arrange shipment of samples and submission of documentation; generate invoices.
• Record results in internal databases and report testing results to partners.
• Document lab-scale results in development and/or process development reports.
• Assist in preparing reports for technical transfer packages for Operations.
• Report results to peers and management in clear presentations.
• Maintain lab workspace in clean, safe condition per policy.
