Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. invites motivated interns to join the Research and Development Sourcing & Procurement group for a 10–12 week program. You will conduct market intelligence, engage in pre-negotiation planning, and support RFIs, RFPs, and e-auctions across multiple projects.

The role emphasizes data-driven analysis, cost modeling, and supplier performance monitoring, with exposure to SAP reporting and cross-functional collaboration within Legal, Finance, and P2P teams.

Qualifications

• Sophomore or junior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in business (Finance or Management), Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Market Research, Communications or a Science-related discipline (Engineering, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Bioengineering). Or MBA or other graduate program enrollment.
• Strong data collection, analysis and reporting skills are required.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Prepare market intelligence gathering and strategic analysis.
• Pre-negotiation planning; RFIs, RFPs/Qs, and e-auctions; quotation analysis and cost modeling.
• Financial solvency analysis, risk assessments, FCPA verification, and due diligence assessments.
• Supplier performance monitoring and issue resolution; spend and savings reporting.
• Support SAP-based financial reporting and category spend analysis.
• Ensure all contract requirements are met and collaborate with Legal, Finance, and Procure-to-Pay teams.
