Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Environmental Sciences Laboratory at the Pickle Research Campus is seeking an R&D Software Developer (Engineering Scientist Associate) to advance applied research in signal processing, array processing, beamforming, and spectral analysis for defense-related projects. This is a full lifecycle software role within a collaborative engineering team.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in a natural or engineering science, experience with Python and MATLAB on Windows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in the natural or engineering sciences including computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience developing applications in Python, MATLAB, or other similar programming languages in Windows and UNIX/Linux environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong commitment to contributing to the whole.
  • Ability to debug software at all stages of development life cycle.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, be highly organized, and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Design software according to project requirements.
  • Write flexible, maintainable software and conduct testing.
  • Document both new and legacy software and development practices.
  • Review peer code to improve design and implementations.
  • Deploy and support software outside ARL.
