Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Sensor Engineer (R&D S&E Electronics Engineer) to design, characterize, qualify, and integrate sensor technologies across multiple programs within the Nuclear Deterrence product realization framework.

You will collaborate with mechanical engineers, designers, analysts, test personnel, and the Product Realization Team to execute full life cycle engineering activities, with travel up to 25% and onsite work (100%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience demonstrating R&D capability.
• Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Develop sensor designs to production-ready status through iterative design-build-test cycles with production partners.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering to ensure requirements, verification, and qualification planning are met.
• Support sensor qualification testing, develop test plans, execute tests, and analyze results.
• Analyze environmental test data, including long-term drift and reliability assessments.
• Serve as interface between design teams and production/manufacturing to resolve challenges.
