Job summary

Coherent Corp. in the United States seeks an R&D Engineering Technician focused on prototype fabrication to support new product and customer development.

You will perform materials processing, machining, lapping, and equipment operation on-site, with planning, data collection, and reporting tasks integrated into daily work. Responsibilities include project planning and tracking, measuring dimensions, and coordinating with external vendors.

Qualifications

• Requires an AAS in engineering or science fields or equivalent training/experience.
• Certifications such as CAM, CAD, ISO, Lean, or CMM are a strong plus.
• Experience in manufacturing/lab settings with heavy equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, track and report on projects for prototypes.
• Develop methods for processing inorganic composites and run furnaces/CNC machines.
• Characterize material properties and perform precision measurements (CMMs).
• Document results, support tech transfer to manufacturing, and train staff.
