Job summary

Applied Research Laboratories at UT Austin is seeking a Departmental Buyer to manage procurement activities for a research and development environment, ensuring compliant, timely and cost-effective purchases.

You will source suppliers, request bids, award orders, maintain purchasing records in UT systems, and provide guidance on procedures while protecting sensitive information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; business or related field preferred.
  • Experience with purchasing, bidding, and award recommendations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and work independently.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and data entry accuracy.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and UT/DoD-style procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sources of supply, secure bids, and award orders.
  • Locate products/services, provide pricing, and update status databases.
  • Prepare documentation complying with UT and federal regulations.
  • Maintain ProCard files and voucher preparations.
  • Provide back-up support to other purchasers as needed.
  • Accurate data entry and reporting in ARL:UT and UT systems.
  • Help meet contractual requirements and planning with stakeholders.
