Job summary

Balchem Corporation is seeking a Director of Research & Development – Portfolio Management in Montvale, NJ. The role leads a PMO that ensures proper prioritization and execution of R&D programs across Human Nutrition & Health, coordinating with Finance and other functions to align strategy with performance.

Qualifications

• BS in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
• An advanced degree (MBA, M.S., or similar) is preferred.
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in project management or portfolio management within technical, R&D, or CPG environments.
• PMP certification or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems and cross-functional data processes is preferred.
• Strong business acumen with experience in financial metrics, portfolio valuation, and resource planning.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong leadership and communication skills enabling cross-functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio management across HNH and coordinate with Food Solutions, M&N, and Technical Operations teams.
• Establish and improve project management standards, tools, and stage-gate governance.
• Own talent development, capability building, and succession planning within PMO.
• Provide executive-level reporting and metrics on portfolio value, timelines, and resource utilization.
• Partner with Finance for portfolio valuation, resource planning, and performance tracking.
