Job summary

Koch-Glitsch is seeking an R&D Pilot Plant Technician to operate pilot-scale equipment and work with engineers to advance research testing and product development. The role suits hands-on technicians from refinery or chemical processing backgrounds and involves troubleshooting and operational challenges.

The position supports safety programs and equipment startups/shutdowns, with a focus on data collection, instrumentation maintenance, and equipment modification as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience operating or supporting equipment in refinery, chemical processing, oilfield, or industrial process environments.
• Experience following operating procedures, safety requirements, permits, or standard work practices in an industrial setting.
• Ability to be clean shaven and fit tested to wear a respirator as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate pilot-scale distillation and process equipment using PLC control systems.
• Collect, document, and analyze process data and chemical samples.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation and pilot plant equipment.
• Prepare, modify, and maintain test equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, piping, and insulation.
• Safely handle chemicals and support startups, shutdowns, and abnormal conditions.
• Support fabrication, modification, and repair of test equipment and prototypes.
