Job summary

Mars Incorporated is seeking a Pilot Plant Technician to join a cross-functional team responsible for pilot plant runs, equipment configuration, sanitation, data collection, and overall site operations. The role supports evolving trial demands and adheres to quality and safety standards.

The technician will collaborate with Pilot Plant and trial stakeholders, attend team meetings, document activities, and contribute to continuous improvement through SOP development and process optimization.

Qualifications

  • Requires AA/AS or BS in Science (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science) or Technology (e.g., Engineering Technology); HS/Vocational with relevant work experience also acceptable.
  • Knowledge of food production equipment and processes.
  • Familiarity with food processing GMP standards, equipment operations, and laboratory testing.
  • Ability to stand and bend for extended shifts; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate food processing and sanitation equipment.
  • Record and distribute data from experiments.
  • Batch raw materials for trials and update inventory systems.
  • Cross-train on pilot plant operations (wet, dry, C&T, and Innovation).
  • Support Quality and HSE departments.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures for applicable areas.
  • Provide quality control for pilot plant finished products and ensure food safety.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and plant facilities per GMP and sanitation practices.
  • Maintain associate safety and food safety in the Pilot Plant.
  • Use creativity to solve mechanical or organizational problems.
  • Flexible to evolving pilot plant demands.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
