Job summary

Philips is seeking an intern for Image Guided Therapy (IGT) in San Diego, CA. The 3–6 month paid internship focuses on designing and developing next-generation measurement guidewires and intravascular ultrasound catheters. You will prototype, test concepts, and develop clinically relevant test methods.

You’ll work with a cross-functional team through the full product lifecycle, learning design controls, risk management, and bench-top testing while applying statistics and DOE concepts.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/MS in Engineering (Mechanical or Biomedical)
• Proficient in SolidWorks
• Experience with 3D modeling, fixture design, and basic machining
• Experience with bench-top testing
• Experience with statistics (DOE, Gauge R&R, Capability Analysis)
• Familiarity with intravascular clinical workflows preferred
• Experience with Minitab is a plus

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of next-generation functional measurement guidewires and/or intravascular ultrasound catheters
• Prototype and test product concepts and fixtures
• Develop clinically relevant test methods
• Partner with cross-functional teams through the full product development lifecycle, design controls, and risk management
• Concept generation, modeling, and prototyping
• Bench top test set-up and execution
• Statistical data analysis
• Write and execute test protocols and reports
