Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an R&D Engineer specializing in software development, computer vision, machine learning, and mechatronic systems for an on-site Dallas role. The position focuses on turning concepts into deployed monitoring and detection systems using cameras, embedded sensors, and AI/ML models.

You will collaborate with mechanical engineers, build scalable software, and contribute to documentation and field validation. Travel is possible as projects expand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant engineering discipline
• 3+ years in engineering, R&D, product development, or software development
• Professional software development experience beyond academia
• Strong programming experience, preferably Python
• Exposure to AI/ML, computer vision, or image processing
• Experience using Git/GitHub or similar version-control
• Ability to work independently as requirements evolve
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to work onsite in Dallas during training/ramp-up
• US work authorization without sponsorship
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, debug, and maintain software for data collection, image processing, and equipment monitoring
• Support computer vision and ML initiatives involving cameras and sensor data
• Build and improve applications using Python and modern development tools
• Collaborate with external software partners and establish development best practices
• Create user interfaces with React/Node.js and related technologies
• Integrate software with cameras, sensors, electronics, and mechanical equipment
• Collect, filter, analyze, and troubleshoot sensor and visual data
• Participate in prototype development, lab testing, and field testing
• Contribute to documentation, version control, and product development plans
• Partner with mechanical engineers to bring new industrial products to market
• Assist with product installations and field validation as solutions move to production
• Use CAD tools to review/update models and drawings
