Job summary

Rosenbauer South Dakota Llc is seeking an R&D Project Engineer-Mechanical to lead the design, development, and testing of major firetruck sub-systems. You will collaborate with engineering, purchasing, production, service, and sales to translate ideas into production-ready designs.

The role emphasizes design for manufacture, regulatory compliance, and data-driven improvement, with travel as needed to tradeshows or events.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years in mechanical engineering preferred.
• Experience with design experiments, data collection, and analysis.
• SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and testing of major sub-systems for firetrucks.
• Develop test plans, perform tests, and analyze data to meet objectives.
• Coordinate with design, production, service, and sales for corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with FMVSS, SAE, NFPA, and internal requirements.
• Review field service records to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support manufacturing through design for manufacture and assembly.
