Job summary

Rosenbauer South Dakota is seeking an R&D Project Engineer-Mechanical to lead design, development, and testing of major subsystems for firetrucks. You will turn concepts into prototypes and production-ready designs, while ensuring compliance with standards and coordinating across engineering, purchasing, production, and service teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or 3 years of related experience.
• Experience with data acquisition systems preferred.
• Experience with SolidWorks preferred.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages product improvement projects from start to finish with clear milestones.
• Applies vehicle regulatory standards (FMVSS, SAE, NFPA) to designs.
• Ensures designs meet corporate, customer and performance requirements.
• Develops test plans and analyzes data to meet objectives.
• Collaborates with design, production, and suppliers to resolve issues.
• Serves as a technical resource for Manufacturing, Purchasing, Service and Sales.
