Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the R&D team focused on new product development for advanced scientific instrumentation. You will design, analyze, prototype and validate systems for lab and field environments.

The candidate should be hands-on, innovative, with a strong understanding of mechanics, materials, heat transfer, and DFx principles, and capable of collaborating across electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with scientific instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and drafting; familiarity with PLM tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electro-mechanical components and integrated systems for new products.
  • Support existing products with improvements and sustainment activities to ensure reliability.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to define specifications.
  • Create and maintain drawings, BOMs, and documentation to company standards.
  • Conduct structural, thermal, and vibration analyses using analytical methods and FEA.
  • Lead prototype fabrication including 3D printing and coordinating with fabrication resources.
  • Plan and execute verification and validation testing.
  • Address design risks and manufacturability challenges early in development.
  • Support DFM/DFT efforts and transition prototypes to production.
  • Participate in stage-gate reviews and present design data and risks.
