Job summary

Indiana Packers Corporation is seeking an R&D Meat Scientist to lead applied research and product development across our value-added portfolio. The role translates technical concepts into scalable products, leads plant trials, and partners with Operations, Engineering, QA, Sales and Marketing to drive commercialization.

The position is onsite near IPC facilities (Delphi, IN; Holland, MI; or Owensboro, KY) with travel as needed and collaboration across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Meat/Food/Animal Science or related field; Master/PhD preferred.
• 5+ years hands-on meat/food product development; pork formulation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of meat functionality and processing systems.
• Experience in USDA-regulated facilities; familiarity with FSIS regs, HACCP and labeling requirements.
• Proven ability to translate results into practical commercial solutions with strong documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute applied R&D projects for product quality and shelf-life extension.
• Develop and optimize formulations, processes, and specifications.
• Lead plant trials and scale-up; troubleshoot issues.
• Document formulas, specs, and protocols; prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, QA, Sales, Marketing and Regulatory.
