Job summary

Textron Systems’ ATAC division seeks an experienced Research & Development Manager for Tactical Aircraft to lead research and evaluation of fighter aircraft for ATAC’s fleet. You will report to the Director of R&D and assist program managers with upgrades and customer requirements.

The role requires DoD flight test experience, active clearance, and proven ability to translate concepts into mature proposals for Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field (required)
• Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business related field (desired)
• Test Pilot School graduate (required)
• 8 years of industry and government experience in fighter aircraft mission and radar systems integration, test and evaluation (required)
• Former military service (required)
• Active Top Secret clearance (required)
• Ability to attain and maintain SAP clearance requirements (required)
• Defense Acquisition University coursework in TE, SE, Logistics, Acquisition, Risk Management, and/or IP & Data Rights (required)

Responsibilities

• Research existing fighter aircraft for cost-effective integration into ATAC’s fleet.
• Assist with drafting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to industry or foreign governments.
• Evaluate potential aircraft acquisitions or modernization upgrades for US Navy/Marine Corps/Air Force CAS requirements.
• Assist with EO/IR sensors, EW equipment, AESA radars, and HMCS integration onto ATAC aircraft.
• Assist the Chief Engineer with developing system-level requirements for avionics, sensors, and systems.
• Support proposal development and strategy from Capture Manager.
• Assist Program Managers with requirements derivation, management, verification and validation.
• Support Test & Evaluation planning and execution.
