Job summary

RHI Magnesita is seeking an hands-on R&D Laboratory Technician in Ashtabula, OH to support development of refractory products and processes. You will work with engineers, scientists, and operations to conduct testing, prepare samples, support pilot trials, and generate data for product improvements.

The role involves laboratory and industrial environments, adherence to ASTM/ISO standards, and data-driven reporting. Strong attention to detail, organization, and safe operation are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
• Experience in laboratory testing, quality, manufacturing, or materials contexts.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Support R&D engineers and scientists in evaluating materials, products, and processes.
• Prepare laboratory batches, samples, and test specimens per project requirements.
• Assist with lab-scale and pilot-scale trials for new product development and process improvements.
• Execute test plans and communicate results to project teams.
• Perform physical, thermal, chemical, and mechanical testing of refractory materials.
• Maintain sample identification, records, and data integrity.
