Job summary

Sinopec UOP Joint Research Center in Katy, Texas, seeks a Lab Technician II to support R&D in petrochemical processes using pilot plant, microreactor, and lab capabilities. The role involves catalyst synthesis, testing, and data reporting under the supervision of JRC scientists and engineers.

Requirements include a bachelor’s in chemistry/engineering/science, ability to work with hazardous materials, strong math/chemistry skills, and good communication.

Qualifications

• Experience with catalyst preparation or testing and handling lab equipment.
• Ability to stand for long periods in the lab.
• Good math and chemistry skills.
• Experience working safely with chemicals in a lab environment.
• Ability to work independently and run various tests.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of laboratory safety procedures.
• Ability to use a variety of computer software programs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and efficient work area.
• Follow experimental procedures and objectives.
• Perform routine hands-on lab work including equipment handling, chemical handling, catalyst preparation, characterization and testing.
• Report daily lab results to the team.
• Document experimental data and calculations.
• Update procedures and HS&E documentation as needed.
• Handle and dispose of experimental materials safely.
• Repair, calibrate, and maintain tools and equipment.
• Document test results and prepare reports.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure supplies are available.
