Job summary

Prysmian Encore Wire is seeking a detail-oriented lab technician to support R&D and UL testing in a Texas lab environment. You will assist in product development, testing, and documentation under ISO 17025 guidelines.

The role emphasizes mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and teamwork; you will operate basic tools and assist in maintaining equipment and QA/QC records to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree or technical trade in engineering or similar field preferred.
• Candidates with related certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Operate in ISO 17025-compliant lab environment.

Position Overview: Under direct supervision, applies functional and technical knowledge assisting the Research and Development team in the implementation of engineering projects, product development, and lab compliance. Assists in testing of products or product prototypes under UL's standardized testing methods. Takes the initiative to go beyond what situations require and focuses on attention to detail by making sure that work is done correctly, completely, and to the highest standards.

Essential Job Functions:

• Operate in a laboratory environment that maintains ISO 17025 compliance for UL DAP accreditation.


• Perform repair and routine maintenance of lab and prototyping equipment.


• Use basic computer skills and practices to document calculations and compare the results in controlled databases.


• Perform product testing related to UL code specifications and QA/QC requirements.


• Ability to understand and clearly convey testing results.


• Generate / complete test reports where necessary.


• Work effectively as a team member by communicating clearly and efficiently.


• Operate basic machine tools (drill press, milling machine, lathe, etc.).

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.


• Associates Degree or Technical Trade in engineering or similar technical program. (Preferred).


• Candidates holding certifications in related disciplines such as machine design, fabrication, and manufacturing may also be considered.


• Strong mechanical and problem-solving aptitude.


• Knowledge of industry specific regulatory standards (ASTM, ISO, UL, RoHS, etc.) (Preferred).


• Good organization skills.


• Fluent in English.


• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
