Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Group Leader for the Information Sciences (CAI-3) group within the Computing and Artificial Intelligence Division. You will set scientific direction, develop people, and sustain a research portfolio aligned with mission needs.

You will recruit and mentor researchers, oversee budgets and operations, and empower technical leads. This role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and a track record of advancing national security science.

Qualifications

• Significant scientific or technical contributions in CAI-3 research areas.
• Ability to set research direction and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience mentoring researchers and developing technical leaders.
• Experience managing resources, partnerships, and communicating priorities.

Responsibilities

• Establish research priorities and build programs with Laboratory partners and sponsors.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain outstanding researchers and leaders.
• Oversee budgets, staffing, and program commitments.
• Empower deputies and team leaders with clear responsibilities.
• Promote scientific excellence, collaboration, and safety practices.
• Contribute to strategy across the Computing and Artificial Intelligence Division.
