Job summary

KLN Family Brands is seeking a motivated R&D Formulation Intern for the summer of 2027 at our Delano, MN facility. You will work with Pet Food Scientists and cross-functional teams to learn the entire production cycle of canned pet food and treats while supporting R&D activities.

Ideal candidates are juniors pursuing Animal Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields, with a collaborative attitude and willingness to learn. The internship runs 10–12 weeks and offers an hourly starting wage.

Qualifications

• Junior in college pursuing a degree in Animal Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
• Commitment of 10-12 weeks for Summer 2027 internship.
• On-site work at Delano, MN facility.

The Opportunity

As an R&D Formulation Intern, you’ll work closely with our Pet Food Scientists and other members of our formulation and operations teams.

Daily Duties And Responsibilities

• Gain comprehensive knowledge of the entire production cycle for our canned pet food and pet treat products
• Support the R&D and formulation team with day-to-day responsibilities, including:
  • Product research, development, and formulation

What You’ll Need to Be Successful at KLN Family Brands/Tuffy’s Treat Company :

• At least a Junior in college pursuing a degree in Animal Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
• The ability to dedicate 10-12 weeks to the internship program for the summer of 2027
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• The ability to work in a team atmosphere and be a great co-worker
• The ability to work on-site at our Delano, MN facility for the summer

Compensation

The starting hourly rate of pay is $18.84 and will be a percentage of industry standards based on typical full-time starting salaries, and will depend on your year in school and timeline to graduation.
