Job summary

Watts Water Technologies in Blauvelt, NY invites an Applied Research Intern to support the development of a new commercial electric water heating product. You will conduct research, evaluate designs, and help prepare test plans to validate design specs, cost, and size.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in lab testing, CAD tools, and cross-functional collaboration under the Director, Applied Research, contributing to real product development in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Interest in research and product development with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Data analysis skills and problem-solving ability are required.
• Ability to understand electrical schematics and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research to support development and launch of a new commercial electric water heating product.
• Evaluate designs for compliance with specifications and prepare documentation.
• Develop lab and field test programs to validate performance and support safety standards.
• Work with engineers in a lab to perform testing using instrumentation and measurements.
• Document procedures, analyze data, and summarize results.
• Gain experience using CAD tools and business software with engineers.
