Job summary
Vizor is seeking a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering student for a hands-on role in Brooklyn Navy Yard. You will operate, tweak, and optimize processing equipment to relate raw material properties to machinery configurations.
The ideal candidate thrives on iterative experiments and meticulous data tracking, with the drive to achieve precise machine-material synchronization. This on-site program runs 8 weeks with part-time hours.
Qualifications
- Pursuing BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience or willingness to learn operating shop tools, lab equipment, or machinery.
- Analytical mindset with discipline in scientific data tracking (Excel).
- On-site availability at the Brooklyn Navy Yard facility.
Responsibilities
- Operate processing of materials on industrial and lab equipment (high-shear mixers, mills, homogenizers).
- Adjust speed, pressure, temperature, and dwell time for optimal material outcomes.
- Record performance metrics and material properties across trials for repeatability.
- Assist setup, teardown and calibration of processing equipment; maintain instrument accuracy.
- Investigate faults and propose configuration changes to resolve issues.
