Job summary

Teleflex invites students to join the Interventional R&D team in Maple Grove, MN for a 12-week, paid engineering internship. Working on real projects alongside mentors, you’ll design fixtures, run DOEs, analyze material properties, and support verification and validation activities.

Open to all engineering majors, the program emphasizes hands-on learning, cross-functional collaboration, and strong technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Participate in team meetings and follow Teleflex quality procedures.

Position Summary

The Summer 2027 R&D Engineering Internship is a 12-week, paid, on-site role in Maple Grove, Minnesota. This internship is open to all Engineering majors across all grades. Working alongside the Interventional team, interns will have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience while completing value added tasks.

• Contribute to ongoing engineering projects.
• Example: Design a fixture to make a process more consistent. Use Solidworks to model the fixture and have a prototype created (3D Print, CNC Mill, etc.).
• Example: Create DOEs (Design of Experiments) to determine how physical properties (tensile strength, kink resistance, torque) are changed by altering materials.
• Example: Evaluate a SIC (Supplier Initiated Change) to a commercialized product by assessing impact to product sterility, biocompatibility, and performance.
• Participate in team meetings, project meetings, and town halls.
• Follow quality procedures and understands the Teleflex documentation system during the manufacturing and development process.
• Provide R&D support for verification, qualification, and validation studies on existing products.
• Assist with problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Collect, process, and analyze data.
• Assess proposed design and process changes for the impact to the product.
• Support multiple projects with competing priorities, engaging with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Support cost improvement activities and non-conformance investigations.
• Utilize engineering acumen to identify and promote improvement activities across the organization
• Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Currently enrolled a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering.
• Open to lower and upperclassmen.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and ask questions.
• Ability to collaborate with others.
• Ability to problem solve and work independently.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $24.00 and $27.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
