Job summary

Coloplast is seeking an R&D Electrical Engineering Intern to support design, development, testing, and verification of electrical and electromechanical medical device systems for Interventional Urology.

You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineers on new product development and sustaining engineering, contributing to lab tests, data analysis, and documentation in line with medical device design controls.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Undergraduate student (sophomore or higher) or Graduate student with core EE coursework.
• Experience using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Basic programming experience in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, or similar environments.
• Ability to conduct testing, analyze data, and communicate technical findings via reports and presentations.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Job description

The R&D Electrical Engineering Intern will support the design, development, testing, and verification of electrical and electromechanical systems used in medical devices for the Interventional Urology market. This individual will work closely with electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineers to develop innovative products and technologies while supporting both new product development and sustaining engineering activities. The intern will contribute to laboratory testing, data analysis, circuit evaluation, prototype development, and documentation in accordance with medical device design control requirements. Exact dates depend on school calendars.

Major Areas of Accountability

• Assist in the design, development, testing, verification, and validation of electrical and electromechanical medical device systems in accordance with applicable regulatory standards.

• Participate in hands-on problem solving and resolution.
• Utilize laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, data acquisition systems, and environmental test equipment to evaluate product performance.
• Create and maintain good records of lab work and test results related to assigned projects.

• Ability to solder and complete hands-on assembly and rework of PCBAs.

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Undergraduate student (completed sophomore level or higher) or Graduate student with successful completion of core electrical engineering coursework.
• Experience using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Basic programming experience in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, or similar technical computing environments is preferred.
• Ability to conduct testing, analyze data, and communicate technical findings through written reports and presentations.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic engineering concepts and principles.
• Ability to work independently and to be a technical assist on group projects.
• Ability to take verbal instructions and translate them into goals and objectives.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Pro-active; high-performance and results orientation. This position pays $25/hr.
