Job summary

Teleflex is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for Spring/Summer 2027 to contribute to AI/ML and embedded software in vascular/navigation systems. You will support sustainment of Rhythm DLX and development of next-generation navigation platform, writing C++/C# code in embedded and application environments under guidance.

The role runs part-time in spring and full-time in summer, with strong potential for a full-time offer upon graduation for high performers.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree with at least one term remaining after internship.
• Exposure to embedded systems or medical devices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development and testing of software for connected medical device systems.
• Write, debug, and unit test code in C++ and/or C# in embedded and/or application environments.
• Assist with software design control documentation and V&V protocols.
• Participate in code reviews, sprints, and Agile discussions.
• Investigate defects and help identify root cause.
• Explore AI/ML concepts and tools for engineering problems where applicable.
• Document work and present progress to team and stakeholders.

Position Summary

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will contribute to technological innovations in vascular positioning systems, including artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), application software, and embedded software systems. Working alongside our Software Development Engineering team, you will gain hands-on experience supporting both the sustainment of our current Rhythm DLX Navigation system and the development of our next-generation navigation platform. This internship runs part-time during the Spring semester and full-time over the Summer, with strong potential for a full-time offer upon graduation for candidates who demonstrate strong performance.

• Support the design, development, and testing of software for connected medical device systems, gaining exposure to both the sustainment of the current Rhythm DLX Navigation system and development of our next-generation navigation platform.
• Write, debug, and unit test software code in C++ and/or C# within embedded and/or application software environments, under the guidance of senior software engineers.
• Assist with software design control documentation, including requirements, traceability, risk mitigations, verification & validation (V&V) protocols, and test reports.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and cross-functional design discussions within an Agile/Scrum software development framework.
• Investigate and help troubleshoot software defects, working with the team to identify root cause and implement solutions.
• Explore applications of AI/ML concepts and AI-based development tools on real engineering problems, where applicable to the assigned project.
• Document work performed and present progress and findings to the software team and stakeholders.
• Comply with Teleflex’s code of Ethics, the company’s Quality System, and all company policies, rules, and housekeeping standards.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with at least one academic term remaining after the internship to support a full-time conversion upon graduation.
• Prior coursework, academic projects, or internship experience in software development preferred; exposure to embedded systems, medical devices, or another regulated industry is a plus but not required.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Working knowledge of C++ and/or C#, gained through coursework or project experience.
• Exposure to embedded systems and/or Linux-based development environments preferred.
• Coursework or project experience involving artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) concepts preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-based software development tools preferred.
• Basic understanding of software development lifecycle concepts and Agile/Scrum methodology preferred.
• Exposure to medical device or other regulated software development (e.g., design controls, verification & validation) a plus, but not required.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate requirements into working software.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional engineering team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Genuine interest in medical device software, with the intent to pursue a full-time software engineering role following graduation.
