Job summary

Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. (SARA) in Cypress, CA, is seeking a Research and Development Engineer to support hands-on R&D and product prototyping in the APTA division.

The role involves experiments, design/build of hardware, and collaboration with engineers and technicians on government and commercial programs. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 0–5 years of experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in lab and workshop

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, software, aerospace, etc.) with GPA 3.5+
• 0 to 5 years applicable experience
• Physical ability to assemble/manipulate small electronic and mechanical assemblies
• Ability to work with lab/test equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office tool suite
• US citizen eligible for DoD Top Secret clearance
• May require moderate physical effort up to 50 pounds
• Indoor, moderately loud, clean, well-lit environment

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Perform experiments, analyses, and build proof-of-concept hardware
• Design, fabricate, assemble, integrate and test prototypes or low-rate production systems
• Work with program leadership to define responsibilities
