Job summary

Zebra Technologies seeks an on-site R&D professional for its Morris Plains, NJ lab to drive invention and product development. You will design experiments, test materials, and characterize RF and electronic properties, with focus on NFC, UHF RFID, BLE and WiFi systems.

The role requires a 5+ year electrical/mechatronics background or a fresh Master’s with relevant experience, plus hands-on lab experience and Altium proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience or Master’s with no experience
• Experience Schematic capture and PCB designs utilizing Altium Designer or any other PCB Design software
• Exposure to RF Engineering/Antenna Design with knowledge of NFC, UHF RFID, BLE and WiFi systems
• Experience in operating, calibrating, and maintaining advanced analytical laboratory instrumentation

Responsibilities

• Contribute to scoping experiments to demonstrate idea feasibility and provide rationale for next steps
• Design, prepare, and execute hands‑on experiments, material trials, and wet chemistry formulations within the R&D laboratory environment to drive innovation
• Evaluate and characterize the physical, chemical, electronic, and functional properties of materials
• Set up and configure analytical test equipment and recommend additional equipment
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain advanced analytical laboratory instrumentation
• Analyze and interpret complex data and present findings to stakeholders
• Contribute to experimental design, trials, testing and characterization for project needs
• Support invention disclosures and patent filings
• Maintain a tidy, safe workspace and promote inclusivity
