Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking an R&D Engineer II in the Minneapolis area to advance liquid coating technologies for both solvent and waterborne systems. You will partner with the formulating lab, Marketing, Sales, and end customers to drive performance and warranty outcomes.

You will apply, cure, and test new coatings, analyze data for trends, and lead multiple projects with minimal supervision while establishing realistic timelines and resource needs.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial).
• Minimum of 3 years in liquid coating application, technical service, or R&D.
• Experience with Conventional air-spray, HVLP, Pressure Pots, and Electrostatic hand spray.

Responsibilities

• Apply, cure, and test new coating products.
• Collaborate with formulating lab, Marketing, Sales, and customers.
• Analyze data to identify trends and support project progression.
• Lead technically complex projects with minimal supervision.
• Establish timelines and assess resource needs for projects.
• Ensure safety, housekeeping and lab documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers, chemists, or technicians as needed.
