Job summary

Trex Company seeks a R&D Engineer in Winchester, VA to drive improvement, design, and development of new and existing products, formulations, and equipment. You’ll work within our R&D team to develop resources and vendors to meet Trex's needs.

Responsibilities include leading design and improvement of products, processes, and materials, conducting pilot trials, and communicating progress across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 0–5 years in thermoplastic processing, chemical manufacturing, or mechanical maintenance.
• Experience or exposure to polymerization processes or product design.
• Experience with Six Sigma is a plus.
• Product or process design experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD; hands-on mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve Trex products, processes, and raw materials.
• Lead projects to improve costs, profitability, market share, and product offering.
• Conduct pilot and plant trials and tests; establish operating parameters.
• Communicate project status; document product, process, and material data.
• Travel up to 25% as needed; uphold safety and environmental practices.
