Job summary

Trex is seeking a talented R&D Engineer in Winchester, VA to lead design, development and improvement of new and existing polymer-based products, formulations, and equipment. You’ll work within our Research and Development team to build resources and vendor networks meeting Trex needs.

Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and 0–5 years of thermoplastic processing experience required. You will conduct pilot plant trials, define operating parameters, analyze data, and generate

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or research experience in polymerization processes or product design.
• thermoplastic processing, chemical manufacturing, or mechanical maintenance.
• Experience in 6 Sigma a plus.
• Product or process design experience utilizing SolidWorks 3D CAD, demonstrated hands on mechanical aptitude

Responsibilities

• Generate project ideas to improve Trex costs, profitability, market share, and product offering.
• Conduct safe execution of pilot and plant trials and tests.
• Develop required operating parameters for material and equipment.
• Understand raw material and product testing techniques, data acquisition, and data analysis.
• Develop all required product, process, and raw material documentation.
• Communicate and consult with outside technical resources.
• Communicate project status across the organization.
• Promote a safe and environmentally responsible work environment.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
