Job summary

Keysight Technologies in Santa Rosa, CA is seeking an experienced design engineer to craft high-speed digital PC boards and implement FPGA/CPLD features. You will work with a product team to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability requirements, in a lab environment.

The role requires on-site work in Santa Rosa with no telecommuting. You will collaborate across hardware, software, and test teams and contribute to invention disclosures and patent applications.

Qualifications

• BS, MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of signal integrity and high-speed digital circuit design.
• Experience in circuit and PCB board design; FPGA/CPLD programming.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a diverse product team to design, implement, and optimize high-speed digital PC board designs and subsystem solutions.
• Develop FPGA and CPLD code for your designs and the overall system.
• Collaborate with system, hardware, software, and test teams to define hardware requirements and performance.
• Model and optimize high-frequency high-speed digital I/O circuits and interconnects.
• Support investigation of next generation materials and stack-ups in PCB fabrication for signal integrity.
• Develop RF circuits and transitions for high-speed clocks.
• Select components, create schematics, and lay out circuitry using PCA design tools.
• Write comprehensive technical documentation and invention disclosures for patent protection.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable across the production lifecycle.

In this position, you will work in Santa Rosa, California with a team designing new Keysight products. Due to the need to develop and measure hardware in a lab environment, on-site work in Santa Rosa is required. Telecommuting is not available for this position.

Your primary role will be to design high speed digital PC boards using PCIe, SerDes, SPI and other digital communication standards. In addition, you will program FPGA and CPLD devices to implement advanced features. You will work as part of a product team of engineers and software developers, ensuring that your designs work well and meet the needs of Keysight customers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a diverse product team to design, implement, and optimize high-speed digital PC board designs and subsystem solutions that meet product functionality, performance, quality and schedule requirements.
• Develop FPGA and CPLD code for your designs and the overall system.
• Collaborate with system, hardware, software, and test teams to develop and define hardwarerequirements, functionality, and performance requirements
• Model and optimize high-frequency high-speed digital I/O circuits and interconnects
• Support investigation of next generation materials and stack-ups in PCB fabrication to satisfy stringent signal integrity needs.
• Develop RF circuits and transitions for high-speed clocks
• Select components, create schematics, and lay out circuitry using PCA design tools
• Write comprehensive technical documentation
• Write invention disclosures and patent applications to protect new ideas.
• Ensure your designs work well through the entire manufacturing process to keep costs low.
• Work with new product introduction teams and partner technology teams to bring your new designs from concept to product shipment. Experience the full product development lifecycle and prove your designs are manufacturable.
• Occasionally visit customer sites to present products and help customers with integration
• Continually learn new design methodologies and develop best practices

Qualifications

• BS, MS or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Excellent understanding of Electrical Engineering principles, signal integrity, high speed digital circuit design, and related methodologies
• Demonstrated experience in circuit design and PC board design.
• Demonstrated experience in FPGA and CPLD programming.
• Knowledge of circuit theory, transmission line theory, and high-speed signal design
• Proactive in issue discovery and resolution
• Good analytical problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to work independently and tackle challenging tasks
• Ability to function effectively in a team environment
• Excellent teamwork skills. Enjoy working with a diverse and global team

California pay range: MIN $106,130.00- MAX $176,880.00
