Job summary

Keysight Technologies in Santa Rosa, California seeks an engineer to design high-speed digital PC boards using PCIe, SerDes, SPI, and related standards. You will also program FPGA and CPLD devices and work with a product team of engineers and software developers to ensure manufacturability and customer satisfaction.

This on-site role requires lab-focused hardware work; telecommuting is not available. Candidates should have strong signal integrity fundamentals, practical PCB layout skills, and

Qualifications

  • BS, MS or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of Electrical Engineering principles, signal integrity, high-speed digital circuit design, and related methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in circuit design and PCB design.
  • Demonstrated experience in FPGA and CPLD programming.
  • Knowledge of circuit theory, transmission line theory, and high-speed signal design.
  • Proactive in issue discovery and resolution.
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a diverse product team to design, implement, and optimize high-speed digital PCB designs and subsystem solutions that meet product functionality, performance, quality and schedule requirements.
  • Develop FPGA and CPLD code for your designs and the overall system.
  • Collaborate with system, hardware, software, and test teams to develop and define hardware requirements, functionality, and performance requirements.
  • Model and optimize high-frequency high-speed digital I/O circuits and interconnects.
  • Support investigation of next generation materials and stack-ups in PCB fabrication to satisfy stringent signal integrity needs.
  • Develop RF circuits and transitions for high-speed clocks.
  • Select components, create schematics, and lay out circuitry using PCA design tools.
  • Write comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Write invention disclosures and patent applications to protect new ideas.
  • Ensure your designs work well through the entire manufacturing process to keep costs low.
  • Occasionally visit customer sites to present products and help customers with integration.

In this position, you will work in Santa Rosa, California with a team designing new Keysight products. Due to the need to develop and measure hardware in a lab environment, on‑site work in Santa Rosa is required. Telecommuting is not available for this position.

Your primary role will be to design high‑speed digital PC boards using PCIe, SerDes, SPI and other digital communication standards. In addition, you will program FPGA and CPLD devices to implement advanced features. You will work as part of a product team of engineers and software developers, ensuring that your designs work well and meet the needs of Keysight customers.

Qualifications
  • BS, MS or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Excellent understanding of Electrical Engineering principles, signal integrity, high‑speed digital circuit design, and related methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in circuit design and PC board design.
  • Demonstrated experience in FPGA and CPLD programming.
