Job summary

Keysight Technologies Inc. is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to lead board- and system-level hardware development for high-performance Ethernet and network test equipment.

You will own design programs, collaborate with architec­tures, and drive specifications from concept through production. Applicants should have strong experience with Cadence Allegro, Orcad, FPGAs, DDR4/5, and signal integrity, plus knowledge of test equipment and networking protocols.

Qualifications

  • BSEE with 15+ years, or MS EE with 10+ years, in board-level digital design.
  • Self-driven, team player, able to own hardware development program.
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro PCB and Orcad Schematic Capture.
  • Experience with high-density FPGAs, embedded processors, DDR4/5, power distribution and thermal management.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity and analog design; familiarity with test equipment.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications standards, Ethernet and TCP/IP.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of board- and system-level hardware for telecom test platforms.
  • Collaborate with managers and architects on technical direction.
  • Develop functional, design and test specifications documents; perform hardware bring-up.
  • Provide engineering leadership across cross-functional teams and lifecycle support.
  • Collaborate with CAD, NPI and manufacturing teams to deliver hardware to production.
  • Help define internal development practices and standards and track design issues.

As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will contribute and drive the design, development, qualification, and life cycle sustaining of PCBA and system level hardware used in high performance Ethernet and network communication test equipment products.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of board level and system level hardware projects for telecommunications related test platforms.
  • Collaborate with managers and architects in setting overall technical direction.
  • Lead the development of functional, design and test specifications documents.
  • Perform high‑level design, implementation, hardware bring‑up, integration, and validation of PCBA and system level hardware.
  • Provide technology leadership and expertise to project management, development managers, cross‑functional teams, and related design teams.
  • Collaborate with CAD, NPI, and Mfg teams to deliver development hardware to production. Provide engineering support over the product lifecycle.
  • Assist in developing and defining internal development practices and standards.
  • Identify and track design issues and bugs. Perform troubleshooting best practices, root cause analysis, and deploy corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • BSEE+15 yrs or MSEE+10 yrs experience with board level design and development of digital systems.
  • Self‑driven individual who can own and carry out a hardware development program, with a team‑player mentality.
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro PCB design suite including Orcad Schematic Capture tools.
  • Experience implementing designs using high‑density FPGAs, embedded processors, DDR4/5 DRAM, physical media devices. Knowledge of power distribution and thermal management systems. Experience with mechanical design and best practices is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of digital systems, PCBA level design for signal integrity. General analog design experience is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge with electronic test equipment tools and best practices; digital O-Scope, TDRs, network analyzer, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, etc.
  • Desired experience with VHDL, C programming, Python, and TCL. Including general knowledge of programming best practices.
  • General knowledge of telecommunications standards/network communications protocols, PHY layer, Ethernet, and TCP/IP, among others.
