Job summary

Actalent is seeking a hands-on assembler for a Newton, MA-based contract role focusing on mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical assemblies in a regulated R&D environment. You will build from engineering docs, support prototype builds, perform cable wiring, soldering, and testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and traceability.

The ideal candidate has experience reading drawings and BOMs, applies SOPs, and participates in lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience assembling electromechanical components and reading drawings.
• Soldering proficiency for electronic and electromechanical assemblies.
• Follow SOPs and manufacturing documentation precisely.
• Experience in regulated environments (medical device exposure preferred).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs during assembly tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components per drawings and procedures.
• Perform wiring, cable routing, soldering, crimping, and connector installation.
• Read BOMs and schematics to ensure complete, accurate assemblies.
• Conduct functional testing, calibration, and verification of products.
• Troubleshoot issues using standard diagnostic tools and documented procedures.
• Document assembly activities and test results in quality systems.
• Maintain safe, clean work area following 5S and lean principles.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams.
• Support prototype builds and new product introduction activities.
