Job summary

Actalent is seeking an hands-on Electromechanical Assembler in Newton, MA for a contract role focused on assembling and testing mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components in a regulated R&D setting. You will work from detailed docs, support prototype builds and new product introductions, and collaborate across Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.

The role emphasizes light soldering, cable building, and continuous process improvement while adhering to safety and quality

Qualifications

• Hands-on electromechanical assembly with mechanical/electrical component integration.
• Proficient soldering techniques for electronic/EM assemblies.
• Follow SOPs and detailed manufacturing docs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and BOMs.
• Experience in regulated environments (medical devices or similar).
• Lift up to 50 lbs as part of routine assembly tasks.
• Familiarity with IPC-610/IPC-620 workmanship criteria.
• Support R&D/prototype builds and iteration in a dynamic environment.
• Maintain accurate production/quality records.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components and subassemblies per drawings and procedures.
• Perform wiring, soldering, crimping and connector installations for builds.
• Read schematics, BOMs, and blueprints to ensure complete assemblies.
• Conduct functional testing, calibration, and verification of assemblies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues using standard diagnostic tools.
• Document test results and nonconformances in quality systems.
• Maintain clean, organized work area following 5S principles.
• Support prototype builds and new product introductions.
• Identify and participate in continuous improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address production and design issues.
