Job summary

Draper is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Instrument Student Co-op or Intern in Cambridge, MA to support the development of precision inertial guidance instruments. You will contribute to electro-mechanical design, thermal and magnetic modeling, materials testing, hardware assembly, testing and debugging, using CREO, SolidWorks, ANSYS/COMSOL, LabVIEW and MATLAB.

Duration is 6 months (January through June 2027).

Qualifications

• GPA 3.0+ and hands-on experience required.
• Experience with mechanical design using CREO or SolidWorks preferred.
• Intuitive understanding of the physical universe is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Support R&D of precision inertial guidance instruments.
• Contribute to CAD/FEA design, thermal and magnetic design tasks.
• Collaborate with Draper’s prototype shop and technicians to build and test hardware.
• Operate 3D-printed part production with the Center for Additive Manufacturing and use CREO/SolidWorks; utilize ANSYS/COMSOL; potentially LabVIEW and MATLAB.
