Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks an R&D Electrical/Electronics Engineer to join our Surety System Engineering team with emphasis on Category 1 equipment assurance. You will conduct circuit analysis, failure mode determination, and testing across hardware and software domains, interfacing with national labs and DoD partners.

The role requires deep technical judgment, collaboration across organizations, and the ability to lead design projects from concept through qualification and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Q-level clearance.
• Experience in electrical/electronics engineering and safety analyses is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze electrical schematics and system documentation using Sandia NW drawing system.
• Perform fault tree and failure analysis at multiple levels.
• Develop testing approaches and configurations to meet requirements safely.
• Understand component functionality across FPGA/ASIC/SoC to software.
• Develop qualification and safety plans for high-consequence hardware/software.
• Collaborate with design teams, safety groups, and external labs.
• Present at program reviews and safety studies regarding risks.
• Interface with Sandia, LANL, LLNL, Pantex, NNSA, and DOD organizations.
• Lead R&D teams to transform challenges into technical risks and solutions.
