Job summary

PPG in Delaware, OH seeks a highly engaged R&D leader to drive initiation, early development and transition of new coating projects from prototypes to commercialization in the Refinish business. You will chair safety-focused laboratories, coordinate multiple project teams, and influence across global functions.

Reporting to the Delaware site leader, you will shape strategy, build development plans, mentor talent, and partner with marketing, procurement and manufacturing to deliver speed to

Qualifications

• PhD with 12+ years industry experience or BS/MS with 15+ years in chemistry or chemical engineering.
• 6+ years R&D managerial (people) leadership.
• Experience in manufacturing, process engineering, product/design commercialization.
• Ability to engage executives and align strategy across functions.
• Strong business acumen and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation of technology labs and foster safety culture.
• Lead 2-3 project teams totaling 5-10 contributors across R&D.
• Collaborate with global applications, resin scale-up, manufacturing, operations, and procurement.
• Drive speed to market and maintain cross-functional partnerships without direct authority.
• Develop talent plans and drive employee engagement.
