Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. seeks a highly engaged R&D leader for our Delaware, Ohio site to drive initiation, development, and transition of coatings projects from prototype to commercialization in the Refinish business.

You will lead 2–3 project teams (5–10 contributors), collaborate across global functions, ensure safety and compliance, and build cross-functional partnerships to accelerate speed to market. Strong leadership and strategic thinking are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD with 12+ years industry experience or BS/MS with 15+ years industry experience in chemistry or chemical engineering
• 6+ years R&D managerial (people) leadership
• Proven experience in manufacturing, process engineering, product/process design and commercialization

Responsibilities

• Safety - accountable for safe operation of technology labs and fosters a broad safety culture
• Oversee 2–3 project teams (5–10 contributors) in Workday
• Collaborate with global applications, resin scale-up, manufacturing, operations and procurement
• Ensure compliance with company policies and best practices; drive speed to market
• Lead Americas technology NPD projects; identify opportunities with marketing; deliver milestones
• Talent development - create development and career plans for team members
• Drive employee engagement and build a culture of collaboration
• Incorporate digitalization and AI/ML tools in work processes
• Travel as needed (<10%)
• Located at Delaware, OH site reporting to the Delaware RTD
