Job summary

Johnson & Johnson's Wound Closure & Healing R&D group in Raritan, NJ is seeking an R&D LCM Co-op to work on product lifecycle management, design control, and test method development in a hands-on lab environment. The role involves collaboration with engineers and external suppliers across several subgroups.

You will gain experience in documentation, prototyping, VOC labs, and data analysis using Minitab while contributing to projects in a leading MedTech organization.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college/university during the co-op session.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Only students who have completed their freshman year or above will be considered.
• For co-ops, availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the Co-op session.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is desired.
• High level of organization and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Comfortable working independently, as well as on a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, OneNote, Teams) and strong oral and written communication skills.
• Hands-on skills with SolidWorks and Minitab for some roles.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without future sponsorship for employment visa status.
• Own transportation to the work location; commuting stipend eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on laboratory work in a chemistry or engineering lab.
• Performing studies and developing test methods and fixtures.
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) of medical device products and combination products including: Design Control, Design Verification/Validation, Change Control Management, Material and Finished Goods specification revision, Regulatory Body request handling and related design change activities.
• Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes.
• Generating models and drawings in SolidWorks.
• Data generation, analysis and statistical evaluation using Minitab.
• Crafting and evaluating prototypes.
• Attending and participating in voice-of-customer (VOC) labs.
• Collaborating with engineers and external suppliers to support project activities.
