Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a practical, creative, and highly talented Electroplating Chemist to join our research & development team, reporting to the Sr. Research, Metallization Manager. The Chemist will be a leader in technology for plating chemistry development, electrolytes, and additives. The position is hands-on, where the ideal candidate will enjoy creating and testing new aqueous plating processes and materials to meet the most demanding semiconductor applications related to Damascene and Wafer-Level Packaging. The qualified candidate will work as part of the R&D team while interacting with scientists, product management, and application engineers to commercialize new products for the advanced electronic solution business.

What will you be doing?


  • Hold self to the highest safety standards and commit to building a solid safety culture in all laboratory and related activities.
  • Electroplating & electroless chemistry and process development
  • Hands-on plating work, testing chemistries, and evaluating results
  • Electrochemistry modeling and understanding mechanisms for plating baths
  • Investigation of aqueous and ionic liquid electrolyte systems
  • Provide technical understandings to allow smooth project transfer to process engineering and manufacturing.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the patent andliterature for new alloy systems, chemistry, and additives across related technology areas.
  • Understand and incorporate the competitive landscape in technology mapping and protect intellectual property.
  • Deliver presentations/reports that distill complex ideas into precise results and proposals; communicate appropriately to influence internal and external audiences.
  • Actively participate in workgroup team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem-solving, and other workgroups, department, and functional topics.


Who are You?


  • BS or MS in chemistry or chemical engineering or closely related field
  • 3- 5 years of experience in semiconductor electroplating processes, especially dual damascene, is a must
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of electrochemistry is a must
  • Background in plating equipment, R&D instrumental labs, and working in a research laboratory is preferred
  • Experience in electroless plating or other wet processes is preferred
  • Experience in inorganic chemistry and chemical analysis techniques (AA, ICP, XRF, EDS, titration, UV/Vis)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in groups
  • Organized, self-motivated, and action-oriented, with the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical information effectively and concisely to engineering, sales, technicians, etc.
  • Synthesis skills in plating organic polymer additives are a plus—experience with small hood-scale reactors and apparatus

  • Understand and follow appropriate EH&S standards, policies, and procedures applicable to their job
  • Carry out responsibilities per the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Present a professional attitude and handle confidential information according to non-disclosure guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced and multi-task environment. Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

The typical base salary range for this position is between $78,906.00 and $118,358.00
