Job summary

DAP, part of RPM International Inc., seeks a chemistry-minded R&D support role in Maryland. You will execute experimental plans, analyze data, and support manufacturing procedure development for new products.

The position emphasizes bench chemistry, data generation, and collaboration with plant engineers and QC managers. You will participate in QMS practices and safety initiatives while gaining hands-on experience with a range of analytical techniques and lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Hands-on bench experience with various chemistries (latex, moisture curing, reactive, etc.) in sealants, adhesives, coatings, repair or related field.
• Familiarity with analytical techniques: wet chemistry, titrations, microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, tensile testing, etc.

Responsibilities

• Carry out experimental plans for new product development, product modification, or technology development projects as assigned.
• Demonstrate basic problem-solving within defined tasks and procedures.
• Operate analytical and material characterization equipment and generate high-quality data.
• Assist senior R&D personnel to develop manufacturing procedures and support plant trials.
• Assemble information for basic written reports and oral presentations to communicate within R&D and cross-functional teams.
