Job summary

Fortrex and Safe Foods in Kieler, WI seeks a Research and Development Chemist to support chemical product manufacturing facilities and drive innovation across cleaning solutions, sanitizers and processing aids. You will collaborate across manufacturing, engineering, QA, and supply chain to move projects from concept to commercialization.

The role requires a chemistry/life science background with 1–3 years in an R&D or laboratory setting, and a readiness to work in a plant environment with strict

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, or engineering (chemical, biochemical, materials) or other related scientific field
• 1–3 years of related experience in a research and development, product development, and/or laboratory setting

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design sanitation/intervention formulations via literature review and public data.
• Plan and execute experiments to create new chemical formulations.
• Run process improvement experiments for sanitation/interventions and manufacturing steps.
• Assist in product quality investigations and CAPA-driven updates.
• Collaborate with plants, distributors, engineering, supply chain, R&D, and QA to transfer products to commercialization.
• Lead new product development projects from ideation to commercialization as assigned.
• Apply scientific knowledge to solve problems for Safe Foods market needs.
• Prepare and test formulations following SOPs and methods.
• Communicate improvements to field staff and Technical Services.
• Evaluate raw materials and vendors per SOPs, review technical reports and specs.
• Perform other related duties as required.
