Dormont Manufacturing Co is looking for an R&D Attorney to enhance AI outputs used by legal teams. Responsibilities include evaluation design and collaboration with engineering to ensure quality and reliability.
The ideal candidate has a law degree and at least 5 years of in-house legal experience, alongside skills in generative AI. This role offers a competitive compensation package based on experience and performs well in a fast-paced environment.
We are hiring for this role to be based in the United States or Canada. This is a remote role unless you fall within the following parameters. If you live within approximately 50 miles of our San Mateo, CA or Provo, UT office, the position follows a hybrid schedule with in‑office days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
As an R&D Attorney, you will shape the accuracy, reliability, and quality of AI outputs that hundreds of legal teams use in daily work. You will use your legal experience to guide GC AI toward practical excellence by designing legal evaluations, improving system prompts, validating outputs against real‑world legal standards, and translating substantive expertise into product improvements that build user trust. In a fast‑moving, product‑market‑fit stage startup, your work will help raise the bar for how AI is tested in legal workflows and define the future of the leading legal AI platform for in‑house teams.
We’re building something new in a once‑in‑a‑generation shift in technology and the legal industry, so we move at a relentless pace. We expect urgency, ownership, and good judgment even when things aren’t perfectly clear. If you need structure and consensus to do your best work, this isn’t the right place for you. If you thrive in ambiguity and growth, work with intensity, and want real responsibility, keep reading. We’re excited to meet you.
