Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory invites applications for the early career role of R&D Assistant in the Sensors and Electronics Group within EEID. The position supports particle accelerators, electronics, pulsed power, and energy systems through simulations, experiments, and data analysis.

Responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, developing computational tools, and preparing technical reports and proposals for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with scientific programming and data analysis using Python, MATLAB, C/C++.
• Strong technical writing skills for reports, proposals and documentation.
• Ability to work cohesively with research teams and project sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Perform particle tracking simulations to support design, optimization and interpretation.
• Develop and maintain computational workflows and software tools to improve efficiency.
• Design, assemble and execute lab experiments to validate simulations.
• Analyze experimental and simulation data and document findings.
• Develop, test, and troubleshoot electronic systems and instrumentation.
• Prepare high-quality documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Adhere to safety and QA requirements while conducting research.
