Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing using NMR, HPLC, GC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, and Karl Fischer.
• Support route scouting, process optimization, and scale-up via IPC testing and reaction profiling.
• Evaluate conversion, selectivity, purity, and impurity profiles.
• Identify and characterize unknowns, degradants, intermediates, and products.
• Generate accurate analytical data to support R&D and manufacturing projects.
• Assist with DoE, kinetic studies, and process safety through analytical characterization.
• Document results clearly and within required timelines.
• Troubleshoot procedures and instrumentation; maintain lab equipment.

Level: Mid–Senior Level Preferred; Associate-Level Candidates with Relevant Experience Will Be Considered

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Analytical R&D Chemist to support research, development, and chemical manufacturing activities within a highly technical laboratory environment. This role will perform analytical testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products while providing critical data to support reaction monitoring, process development, optimization, and scale-up activities.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on analytical laboratory experience and the ability to interpret data, troubleshoot analytical methods and instrumentation, and communicate results effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non‑routine analytical testing using techniques including NMR, HPLC, GC, LC‑MS, UV‑Vis, and Karl Fischer.
• Support route scouting, process optimization, and scale‑up activities through timely in‑process control (IPC) testing and reaction profiling.
• Evaluate reaction conversion, selectivity, purity, and impurity profiles.
• Support identification and characterization of unknowns, degradants, intermediates, and isolated products.
• Generate accurate, reliable analytical data to support R&D and manufacturing projects.
• Support kinetic studies, Design of Experiments (DoE), and process safety evaluations through analytical characterization.
• Document and communicate analytical results clearly and within required timelines.
• Assist with troubleshooting analytical procedures, methods, and laboratory instrumentation.
• Maintain analytical laboratory equipment and help ensure instruments and methods are ready to support ongoing projects.
• Contribute to efficient day‑to‑day laboratory operations and provide support to project teams as needed.
• Collaborate with chemists, engineers, and other technical personnel to meet project objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline with strong laboratory coursework.
• 3–5+ years of relevant analytical laboratory experience preferred; experienced Associate‑level candidates may also be considered.
• Hands‑on experience with chromatography, spectroscopy, and/or other analytical techniques.
• Experience working with Chromatography Data Systems (CDS) preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new laboratory software and systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with technical staff across a collaborative, team‑based environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to interpret analytical results.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment where turnaround time and sound analytical judgment are important.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new techniques and skills.
